Codes and Conventions of Crime Films

Film Case Study: The Godfather

Overview

The start of the famous trilogy in 1972, the story is about a mafia family, set in the busy city of New York. As a father prepares for his daughters wedding it becomes clearer that in fact the ‘family business’ is not what it seems. Family values become shroud in a tail of rivalry and drugs making it one of the most classic crime films ever made.

My Favourite Crime Films

Brainstorm

What springs into mind when I first thought of a crime film.

Introduction

I am going to carry out extensive research on crime films so that I have enough information to put together ideas to eventually make my own. This involves public opinion, examples of popular films and how the crime film genre came to be what is it today. All together each task I will carry out will enable me to include the forms and conventions of a typical crime film in my film opening.
